Woodland bunny finger-puppets
With a little imagination, an empty Yallamundi egg carton can become something magical this Easter. These woodland bunny finger-puppets are a sweet and simple craft that encourages kids to reuse everyday materials to create their own tiny characters. Whether they become finger puppets for storytelling or decorations for an Easter tablescape, these little bunnies are sure to turn little hands into eggcellent creators at the craft table.
The Little Green Lesson: Upcycling, no-waste
Materials
- A Yallamundi egg carton
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Paint and paintbrush
- Fine liner or marker
- Glue
- Small pom poms for bunny tails
Method

Grab a Yallamundi egg carton and cut each of the middle cones from the centre of the carton.

Draw a line along the bottom of one flat side of the cone. On the opposite side, draw a line halfway up. Then draw diagonal lines on the remaining sides to connect the ends of those two lines, creating a sloped pyramid shape.

Cut along the lines and you should have a small pyramid that has a slightly longer side, for the back of the bunny, and a slightly shorter side for the bunny’s face and front.

From the carton offcuts, cut out little pointy heart shapes to make some bunny ears.

Glue the ears to the top of the back of the bunny, so they are attached to the back of the head.

Paint the bunny’s body and ears any colour you like – we recommend soft browns, beiges or whites for a woodland theme – and allow the paint to dry.

Use a fine liner to draw on a bunny face.

Glue a pom pom on for a cute little tail and leave everything to dry.

Once the glue is set, arrange your woodland bunnies into a family, or pop them on your fingers for an adorable set of finger puppets.
