Farm to fridge – what it takes to get an egg on your plate

Every Yallamundi Farm egg tells a story of care, responsibility and respect for the land and animals that make it possible.

At first glance, an egg seems simple — an everyday staple in kitchens across Australia. But behind every Yallamundi egg is a thoughtful, carefully managed journey that starts well before it reaches the carton in your fridge. At Yallamundi Farm, we don’t believe in shortcuts. Our eggs come from pasture-raised hens, cared for by a team that prioritises animal welfare, sustainability and quality above all else. Once an egg is laid, it’s gently moved through our farm’s careful production process — collected, checked, packed and chilled — to ensure it stays fresh and full of nutrition. Every step is designed with one purpose in mind – to deliver eggs that are better for people, animals and the planet.

So what does it actually take to get an egg from paddock to plate? Let’s take a look behind the scenes at the Yallamundi way.

It begins on pasture

Our hens live with the freedom to roam, dust-bathe and peck just as they should. We believe pasture-raising isn’t just better for animal welfare – it also results in great quality eggs. The hens’ natural behaviour is supported by safe shelter, clean water and expert care from our farm team — so when they lay, they’re healthy and happy.

Collected with care

Our eggs are collected and carefully handled to ensure they’re kept clean and intact. Because they’re fresh from pasture, we move quickly to preserve quality at every step. Every Yallamundi Farm egg is checked for cracks or irregularities before it continues on its journey.

Packed and labelled with precision

Next, we pack our eggs using sustainable, recyclable cartons. Each carton is clearly labelled with the packed-on date and farm information, so you always know exactly where your eggs came from. After carefully packing our eggs they’re chilled right away to lock in freshness.

Every step matters – so we tread lightly

When you crack a Yallamundi egg into your pan, you’re not just feeding your family a source of natural protein. You’re supporting:

  • Genuine, pasture-raised animal welfare
  • Carbon-neutral Australian farming
  • Sustainable food systems and low-waste practices
  • Local jobs and regional communities.

A Yallamundi egg is more than just food — it’s a better way to farm!
